After looking at the exhibit, we got the assignment to create something “animation” around an artwork from choice. This could be a storyboard, character design, comic,..

I chose to work around a certain painting with a monkey on it, and thought about a story where all the paintings wake up at night, get dressed up, and have a big masked ball where they forget their “painted” lives, and dance and talk until morning comes.

After drawing and painting the lion, a masked ball guest, I changed to drawing backgrounds though, and also painting them. The artstyle would look like it got cut out of paper, similar to the “I’m almost there” scene from Princess and the Frog by Disney.

This was an extra storyboard I made about a different artwork, who’d also be a guest to the masked ball. It shows how he changes from his usual self to his ideal self that’ll attend the ball.
